19th Sunday in Ordinary Time

“Lord, be true to your covenant, forget not the life of your poor ones….” Psalm 73

“Our soul waits for the Lord, who is our help and our shield.  May your kindness, O Lord, be upon us, who have put our hope in you.” Psalm 33

“Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen.  By faith Abraham sojourned in the promised land as in a foreign country…dwelling in tents for he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and maker is God.” Hebrews 11:1-2:19

“Stay awake and be ready! For you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” Matthew 24:42

“Do not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your father is pleased to give you the Kingdom.” Luke 12:32-48

“Praise the Lord, Jerusalem; he feeds you with the finest wheat.” Psalm 147

“Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen.”  Abraham wants to “see” the God he believes in.  Mary, the Mother of Jesus, wants to know the meaning of the message the Angel Gabriel speaks to her.  Jesus’ followers keep asking Jesus, “What do you mean?  How can we know?  What shall we do?  Peter, James and John asked.  Martha and Mary asked.  We ask today.  And Jesus does answer.  Come to him.  Listen to his word.  Learn his way.  Follow him.
