“The
centurion and the men with him who were keeping watch over Jesus…said:
‘Truly this was the Son of God’.”
The
events of Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday, the
Resurrection of Jesus, remind us that our failures, the trouble of our
world are never as big as God’s love for us.
The fickle crowds, the complacent disciples at the Passover Meal in
which Jesus first gave himself to us in the bread of life, Pontius Pilate,
the judge, who was swayed by the crowd and who condemned Jesus to death,
the Roman soldiers who attacked the victim, NONE could deter Jesus from
his mission of love and forgiveness. God
continues to love us no matter what! Jesus’
love for us is indeed greater than our sins.
His love leads us to keep on loving, forgiving, rejoicing to hear
God say at our Baptism: “This is my beloved in whom I am well pleased.
I do love you and you are mine.”
