“Lord,
…my heart has prompted me to seek your face.”
(Psalm 26)
“I will come back to you and your hearts will rejoice.”
(John 14:18)
“This is the prayer of Jesus: that
his believers may become one as he is one with the Father.” (John 17:22)
All of the readings talk to us
about the power of prayer: the unity which genuine prayer can create and
the divisions which can vanish. In the Gospel, Jesus prays to his Father
for our unity on earth and in heaven with Him for all eternity--- so that
we may be one just like He was with his Father.
In the first reading, after Jesus
ascended into heaven, the apostles returned to
Jerusalem
. There, we find them, together with Mary
and some other women, all praying together. The apostles learned the way.
They devoted themselves to prayer. And, they were not afraid to
share the Good News!
What
praying do I do? With whom do I pray? How do I show that Jesus’ way is
important to me?
